365 Day Personal Photography Project

365 PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT                                                                                                                                       DAY 1                                                                                            Today in our systems and processes discussion we all got graded on our photographs that we had submitted for last weeks landscape brief. I discussed with Richard some of my images and the lack of direction i felt i had and some technical issues i felt i needed to overcome. He looked through some of my images and gave me a starting image to start off a personal project of taking a photograph every day for a year. There is lots of information on the internet and inspiration for this project but i would like try and make this personal for me. Below is a quick site with some ideas and tips on this project although there are loads more out there.
http://content.photojojo.com/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/

Image 1
This is the original image Richard gave me to start off on and it is one from some of my tests for the landscape brief. I love this composition and subject matter from this image but from a technical point of view it is not very good. I cant wait now to take my next photograph tomorrow.

                                                                         DAY 2

I could not wait today to try and grab an image for this project but there was too many distractions while at uni, so i had to wait until i came home. By the time i came home the light had dropped dramatically and i had to grab a couple of studio shots. Slowing myself down and looking more at the objects around me i found i had more time to work with my exposure and how to play around with it.
Image 2
I thought that this image was apt for today because we had played around with lighting at uni in our objects session and i wanted to to create a dramatic lighting effect on this unusual object that i have lying around at home. I think that the top/side lighting brings out the textures on the surface of the object and i also like the tight crop on the image.

                                                                         DAY 3

Today was the Bradford trip with uni. We went along to the National Media Museum and the Impressions Gallery. It was a really good experience for me as i haven't been there for a long time. The last time i went was a very long time ago and lots has changed. I found this trip to be very inspirational and informative and all of the exhibitions were brilliant.

Image 3
I took this photograph while sitting in the square around the back of the Impressions gallery. I noticed this lady feeding the pigeons but i couldn't have got closer without her seeing me. I watched her for a little while and noticed that every time a bus went past the birds would all fly off and then come back again. I wanted to catch the birds mid flight and had to wait around for about 10 minutes to grab this image. The image has been cropped a little for composition, as a post on the left hand side proved a little distracting to what is an already busy image.

                                                                    DAY 4

So today i have been really busy all day and not had much time to think about taking photographs. It was getting later and later and nothing had cropped up image wise until the end of the day, around 6pm.
Image 4
It was early evening and we were just leaving the barber shop. They turned the lights off ready to leave and i noticed this reflection on the wall from the broken window in the front door. That was the image i was looking for, i grabbed my camera and took a couple of shots of the shadows thrown onto the wall from the window in the front door.

                                                                     DAY 5

Today i went into town and took my camera with me but nothing grabbed me while in town so i walked home through one of the local parks. I managed to get a couple of shots but one stood out more than the others. Again its a mono image and i will make a conscious effort to try and add some colour photographs onto this page at some point. ( Or maybe just do the full project in mono i havent decided yet).

Image 5
A couple of shots into the park and i walked under a bridge leading to the other end of the park. I walk this way all the time and i have thought often that this would make a reasonable shot. The bridge frames the view outside and the path helps to lead you into the photograph. I like the way the little steps just to the side of the opening don't really lead anywhere.

                                                                     DAY 6

I made a conscious effort today to try and capture something and not covert it into black and white . Taking my camera everywhere is making me constantly look at my surroundings and objects in my everyday life. The plus side of this is, it is also making me think more about colour and image content.

Image 6

I loved the hue on this man made flower, that i have placed onto a mirror. The reflection from under the flower casts an off reflection from an underneath angle. I also  added a vignette to draw the image into the center and to cut out some of the background that was a little bit bland.

                                                                  DAY 7

This morning when i woke up the was frost around and it looked nice with the autumn colours that are around at the moment. Also on the way to uni there was mist and frost all around the landscape but i was in a car so couldn't capture any of this. Mental note made though and some nice ideas for future images are wrote down for some winter landscapes.

Image 7

The frost was out early today when i woke up so off i went outside with my camera, looking for something interesting to take a picture of. I didn't have much time as my lift was about to arrive to take me to uni. I loved the way the frost edged the leaves of this red tree in white and it reminded me of the sugar they put around the top of cocktail glasses. Today i have seen lots of new ideas that i can start to implement into future projects. Roll on winter, i cant wait to start doing some more landscape shots.

                                                                      DAY 8

This morning when i awoke there was no frost around and it was a shame as i had already a strong idea in my head of what i wanted today,s image to be about.  Oh well back to the drawing board, i suppose that this will happen a lot later down the line, when i have an idea and the conditions just wont be right.
Image 8

We were in the studio today and finishing off our lighting brief that Kellie needed to catch up on. Near the end we started playing around with different ideas and i took this image as we were about to leave. It was meant to be just a throwaway shot but i really liked it. I like the way the lettering from the plastic bag plays on the contours around the eye and the way the light reflects off the surface of the clear plastic.

                                                                        DAY 9

I had a long day at uni today and i kept looking around for potential photographs. I borrowed a couple of books from the library and looked around while i was there for any interesting shots but none came up. I think i would like to add some candid shots at some point but i can save them for later, as i still have plenty of time on this project for that further down the line.

Image 9

I was looking over the balcony at uni and noticed this person walking down the stairs. The shot was going to be just incidental at first but i liked the red arm of the person and the way it reflects in the glass just a little bit above it. I think it makes you look a little closer and it also makes you wonder who the arm belongs too, is it a man or a woman? And are they alone ?

                                                                         DAY 10

Today's image might be a bit of an obvious choice as i have been shooting photograph's for my weekly picture project for uni. I have been trying out various tests shots and ideas and this was one of the images that i shot
Image 10

I don't think that i will go down this route for the final image for the project but i liked this shot all the same. I like the simplicity of it and how i lit the flowers so you can see highlights of some parts and how you cannot see other parts of them.

                                                                        DAY 11

Well i have been out all day and did not have my camera on me until late tonight. Its now ten past ten and nothing has sprung to mind to take a picture of and i was getting pretty desperate. So i started looking around my room and i noticed what a mess it was.
Image 11

I looked at my bookshelf and thought that they needed sorting out, as books are starting to pile up everywhere. They were just stacked up next to my dvd's and looked a complete mess. So i have took today's picture to push me into tidying my room.

                                                                            DAY 12

I wanted to do something more on the landscape front today, so i decided to walk home from town.
Image 12
The colours in the sky were very strong and i wanted to capture them as they looked very intense.
I don't normally go for shots like this and it was an interesting image for me to take. I like the composition of this picture and i like the fact that its a silhouette.

                                                                            DAY 13
I have been taking some more photographs today of vases of flowers so i will use one of the images here.
Image 13
So today i took another 30 or so pictures for the weekly photograph project and i haven't used the camera for much else today. I love this shot as it was windy outside and it was blowing the rose leaves about as i was taking the photographs. I think it adds to the shot and also i was thinking about inclusion/exclusion in this image and of what amount of the flowers i could leave out, but so you could still tell what it was.

                                                                        DAY 14

I took my camera into uni today and went into town at dinner. I really wanted to take some candid shots of people in the shopping center but i got told off and asked what i was doing by a security guard. I explained to him what i was doing and that i was a student at Blackburn uni and he said i would need permission to take pictures in the shopping center.

Image 14

I managed to take one shot though before i was stopped and this was it. It wasn't what i wanted so maybe next time i will go outside instead where its a public place and not owned by the shopping center.

                                                                         DAY 15

Today's image simply is what it is, as this is on my mind a lot at the moment and i am trying hard to do this.
Image 15

When your trying to give up smoking its amazing the amount of time you see this term throughout the day and this message seems to be plastered everywhere at uni. Or maybe its just that you notice it more.

                                                                            DAY 16
Today's image was an easy one for me today as i managed to get some studio time at uni. I have also noticed how this page is turning into a kind of diary of sorts and i like that.

Image 16
So like i said earlier this was an easy image and perhaps a little safe but it went with what i was doing at uni. This also has set off lots of ideas in my head for images, especially that i could use in my objects brief.

                                                                        DAY 17

I have been out taking some photographs today for this post and then i arrived home to find my family all dressed up like Ewoks, not what you normally find on a Thursday afternoon. So it was a toss up for putting one of the images on that i had been out taking or one of them in silly outfits.

Image 17
So silly outfits it is then. My mother has been really ill for a while and it was so nice to see her smiling today so this image won. Its just a silly throw away kind of shot but i love it, as even my Dads having a bit of fun with it.

                                                                      DAY 18

One of my mates came into see me today and he was supporting a mo-stash for November.

Image 18

It looked dead silly and to go with yesterdays theme i thought i would carry the silliness on for another day.

                                                                         DAY 19

Well i went into town today and i wanted to take a photograph on my way home. I was going to walk but decided to catch the bus instead. I thought i might be able to get a good shot from the back of the bus, but people kept looking at me odd when i took my camera out. What is it today with suspicions of people whenever there's a camera  around.

Image 19
It makes me think back to when it didn't matter when you took a photograph. Photographers like Paul Trevor took loads of candid shots of people back in the seventies and no one would blink an eye lid . Maybe i should buy a small camera and go to Manchester and try some street photography there, it would certainly be a good test for my photography skills and a nice little side project.

                                                                         DAY 20

Not much has sprung to mind today to even worthy getting out my camera, maybe its just one of those days. I have left it very late and now i have about 30 minutes to try and grab a shot.

Image 20
So this isn't my best photograph ever but i liked it when i saw the image. The reflection in the mirror behind this wind charm works in this shot and i like the contrast of the dark background against the blue lights.

                                                                         DAY 21
I was at uni today and while looking out of the window in quite bright light i had an idea to try and use a slow shutter to show movement in the traffic. Now i have done this before when its dark but not during the day so i thought i would give it a go.

Image 21
I liked the way the road bends round on this image and that from the top its relatively sharp and the cars at the bottom are blurred showing the movement. I also like the ghosting on the lampposts from the glass on the window.

                                                                       DAY 22
So again today its another uni shot but i set out to take a lot of photographs and i ended up with about 30. I couldn't resist the one i have picked because it just looked so nice while i was taking it.

Image 22
I noticed that the sky was forming dramatic clouds around the uni building and that the sun going down was reflected in the glass windows. It looked to good not to try and capture it and i have burned out a little bit of the foreground as it was slightly distracting.

                                                                           DAY 23

Had a fantastic day today visiting Blackburn Museum with uni. We got a chance to see lots of photographic opportunities that we could use for the future. We were told we could use objects from the museum to photograph later down the line if we rang and booked. This was a productive day and lots of ideas came from this visit.

Image 23
The museum was a good afternoon out and very thought provoking. It was a good chance to see local items on display and learn a little bit about Blackburn's heritage.

                                                                         DAY 24

Today i went to Blackpool to try and capture some shots for the "Great British" brief. There were plenty of shots to be had here in Blackpool and i managed to find loads of interesting people and places.

Image 24
There were plenty of opportunities to get decent shots but i like this one, i think it sums up the seaside. I should possibly crop off a little from the right hand side but i have left it all in here so when i look back i can see how cropping it would possibly make it a better shot.

                                                                            DAY 25

I have been in the barbers shop again today as i would like to try and get some traditional men's hair cutting shots for the "Great British" theme.

Image 25
They didn't turn out to bad but were slightly on the noisy side. To be honest though i like that look for these so it was fine. They add something to the image rather than spoil them. Andrew one of my teachers has told me not to worry to much about noisy images.

                                                                      DAY 26

Toady i went into town to try and grab some more images for the weekly picture project. I cycled to town and took a couple of images on the way.

Image 26
Richard told us we should try grabbing images of pubs as lots of them are closing down. This was an iconic pub in Burnley that has now shut down and there was a fire in there not so long ago. I think that its a shame how all the pubs seem to be closing down and feel were loosing our heritage somewhat. The are that this was taken has a couple of other pubs too and another of them has also closed down but has been turned into a football club housing building that they use for football students.

                                                                          DAY 27

I went to my sisters house today as my nephew said that he would model for i project i was doing. We had some fun doing these shots and after he started to mess around a little.

Image 27
This was one of the shots that i am not using but it was so funny that i have used it here. It would have been a shame to let this shot go to waste and i can use it in the future when i need to bribe him for something.

                                                                       DAY 28

Spent all day at uni today and the workload is starting to mount up now as most of our photographic work has to be in by January. I am starting to use cast off shots for this, so i need to try and make more of a conscious decision to try and focus my one shot just on this and not use any cast offs.

Image 28
I took this shot just because i like the way the pipes are directly under each window and are framed by the two drainpipes. It just seemed like an awful lot of pipes and it made me wonder what they are actually for.

                                                                        DAY 29

Today i have been playing around with an idea based on the film Eraserhead. in the film there is a scene where a woman appears from behind a radiator. As the lead in the film is looking at the radiator he can see a woman singing behind it.

Image 29
I dropped a book on the making of the Exorcist behind my radiator and then placed a lamp at the side to light it. I then manually focused my camera and took the shot. In Photoshop i then tweaked the levels and burned into the image to darken down any distractions cast from the front of the radiator.

                                                                        DAY 30

I thought that yesterdays image was a little dark and moody so i have tried to create something opposite but still with religious overtones. I really want to try a religious montage or still life using wood as the base or background, so this was really just a test shot for an idea that i am going to persue further down the line.

Image 30
In this test shot i was trying to see what the wood looked like through the glass and how it distorted it. The shot was fine and i liked the texture in the wood and how you can see it through the glass. I will use a macro lens when i do the final shot and go really close in.

                                                                      DAY 31

So today i was trying out a  Michael Akerman style portrait on my mother. I took a few photographs and tried a few different ways of doing it.

Image 31

I enjoyed taking these pictures today though i dare say my mother wont be happy with the result. I liked the final image and have used this also on my personal development planning page as a comparison to Michael Ackermans work.

                                                                      DAY 32

Today i have done a couple of normal portrait shots of a friend of mine. Portraits are not something that i normally do so i was out of my comfort zone but ended up really enjoying taking them.

Image 32
I liked this picture best out of the ones i took. I caught her slightly off guard and it shows as she doesn't really have an expression on her face.

                                                                       DAY 33

So another day taking portraits shots were the order of the day today. A friend of mine wanted a photograph of her looking natural and not fake. As i have been trying to take more portrait shots i jumped at the chance to do this when she asked me.

Image 33
Today i learned just how hard it can be trying to get that natural look when taking portraits. I dont think that this shot is awful but its not great either.

                                                                      DAY 34

So i have been messing around again today and i have been trying out some photo montage work. Nothing to complex but just looking at building an image up using layers.

Image 34
I took the original shot using flash and a rolled up magazine and then used another two images layered over the first. The second image was of some cogs and machinery and the third was some writing from a plaque in the Blackburn Museum.

                                                                    DAY 35

We have been taking pictures of pubs that we like or are shut down as part of an ongoing project and this morning i couldn't resist the opportunity to take this one.

Image 35

This is such an iconic pub in Burnley and i cant believe that they might be pulling this down. I used to go drinking in there when i was younger and it was part of a pub crawl that we used to take. Now this and the Reindeer pub next door to it stand empty right across from Burnley central train station.

                                                                     DAY 36

Today a couple of us went on a little excursion from uni at lunch time to Huncoat Power Station. It was a great photographic opertunity and i really loved it there. There is so much scope here for future projects that i will most defiantly come back here.

Image 36

The outer shell of the building is very much intact and the inside is covered in graffiti which actually adds to the atmosphere. I used to live near this place when i was younger and always wondered what it was like inside.

                                                                        DAY 37

Today nothing exciting was happening like yesterday so i got my head down in the studio and started doing some practice shots for my objects brief.

Image 37

This ended up being another merged layer image. I was messing with the idea of reflections and looking under the skin. I am enjoying trying out layers and mixed media images and will do lots more of this later down the line.

                                                                          DAY 38

So some home practice shots for my objects project today. After finally finding a gnome that i like i have been trying out different lighting shots for it.

Image 38

So trying out different lighting shots for this little fella was fun. I like the green cast shadow in this shot and i am going to retake this shot in the studio next week but with better lighting. I would like to give it a spotlight effect and my home lights just are not powerful enough.

                                                                        DAY 39

I have been out for most of the day today and when i got home i thought i would try and do another multiple layered image but this time with some DVDs and books.

Image 39
The idea of this image is to look at stacks of two different types of media and then merge them together. So we have magazines and DVDs. Then i just blended the two together but trying to create an interesting texture.

                                                                      DAY 40

Today i haven't had a lot of time to try much out as i have had a very busy day and i am going out tonight... hurrah.

Image 40
So this was taken really quickly and then i overlay-ed another image i had taken a couple of weeks ago. It is not a brilliant shot but it was based on my going out mood.

                                                                         DAY 41

Ha ha i was really hung over today from last night but i had to keep trying out more shots for my objects brief so over the next couple of days i will probably use some of these pictures.

Image 41
More gnome test shots were the order of the day today. I was trying out different saturation's and trying to blend one black and white image with a colour image and this was the result. I really like the look of this one but the lighting wasn't quite right.

                                                                      DAY 42

So back into uni today and i took various objects in to photograph. I ended up taking loads of images of different items and messed about with different lighting on the product tables.

Image 42

This was the image that i liked today as it had no connection with anything else i was trying out for my object's brief. I tried a couple of different shots of the dice and this is the one that i liked the best.

                                                                          DAY 43

Today i was a little bit naughty and never took a shot at all. As i take lots of shots every day i have used an image i took a couple of weeks ago. This is the first day that i haven't taken anything as time didn't allow. This is a still life that i set up at home from a few weeks ago.

Image 43

                                                                           DAY 44

Again lots more studio work with Andy and i got the chance to build my mini set. This took longer than i thought it would but had fun trying out the different lighting. I wanted to go for a really bleached out look for this shot and i liked the outcome.

Image 44
I had lots of fun taking this image but it is not quite right to use for my final shot. I tried to blur the guy out in the background a little to try and show movement but it doesn't quite work for this shot. It is not a bad starting point though for my final image.

                                                                          DAY 45

I received my new Olympus xz-1 camera today so i went out tonight to try out some night time shots with it and to have a play around with it.

Image 45
I love this new toy and took quite a few pictures with it. I am going to use this camera to try and take more street type photography as its a bit more discreet than logging my huge Nikon everywhere. Hopefully it will not take long to get used to, as most new camera's do.

                                                                     DAY 46

I have been out for most of the day today and took a few photographs in town. I really like my new camera and have been taking lots of images today.

Image 46
One of my best mates came to see me today so i went for lunch with him into town. Afterwards we had a cigarette together and a chat and i took this picture of him, though i did add some noise and converted it to black and white.

                                                                         DAY 47

Today while out i popped into town to see my mate and her friend was eating a sandwich. I could not resist and asked her to let me take some photographs of her eating, she was a bit reluctant at first put i persuaded her otherwise.

Image 47
This then led me to put all the images together into a very short clip. I could work on this further down the line and has given me an idea for making a short film about people eating. We don't like to be watched eating so this could be interesting if i develop it further. Below is the short clip and you can see how it could lead into either a photography project or a film project.

                                                                        DAY 48

Another day were not a lot has happened so i have had to use an old image and a new image merged together that i took today to try and come up with an interesting concept.

Image 48
This photograph i took of my sister today and then i have merged various levels and brushes into Photoshop and added an adjustment layer, followed by an old fashioned photo edit to give it its distinctive look.

                                                                          DAY 49

Another day messing with layers in Photoshop today. While we are off uni i have made a conscious decision to be on my computer more and trying to get a better understanding of Photoshop. I have used the program for quite some time but the more i use it the more new things i find i can do.

Image 49
This was two images layered together in Photoshop. One is of a bridge in a nearby park and the other is of my dad in a Bob the builder mask. I used the second image to look like graffiti inside the tunnel and its of Bob the builder to show just how childish graffiti can seem.

                                                                      DAY 50

Today i have been having a mess on Photoshop again and this time i wanted the image to look nothing like the original but to still convey the same message that i read into the image.

Starting Image

Image 50
The first photograph is the original starting image and the second image is my end image after it had been fiddled around with in Photoshop. You can still see the smoking kills health warning but i like the second image better.

                                                                          DAY 51

I took my camera into the barbers today to see if i could grab a picture of anyone having their hair cut. It was very quiet and i ended up taking a picture of one of the lads that worked there. After listening to him talking about a night out he had recently had i ended up taking loads of images to try and turn into another short movie clip.

Image 51

So this is a little longer than my first clip done with the girl eating the butty, I am getting braver you see. The music i used really works with this clip as i was listening to a conversation he was having with a friend of he's about a recent night out and it kind of sums up his night.

                                                                        DAY 52

Its getting nearer now to the big day, I cant wait until Christmas day is here, as i have been bought a couple of photography books and cant wait until i can read them.

Image 52
I keep going out at night with my new Olympus camera, I love what it does to the light from the streetlamps. This image has been Photoshopped heavily and while i like the look after the new year i have decided that i am going to not alter my images as much. I really would like to just stick to the basics IE levels, Curves and maybe just a black and white conversion if needed.

                                                                       DAY 53

A very good friend of mine came to see me today. I haven't seen him in ages as he lives in London, so we went for a quick coffee and a chat and i ended up taking a couple of pictures of him.

Image 53a

It was great to see him and we had a good chat. He seems to be still doing fantastic in London and he is still doing Vanessa Felts hair which is good.

                                                                         DAY 54

Well today is Christmas eve so one more day to go and then all the fuss and rushing around will be over. It has been a strange one this year probably because i am at uni and not used to as much time off over this period.

Image 54
People do silly things around this time of year and that's all i will say.

                                                                    DAY 55

It has finally arrived and yeah i got two very nice books on photography. The first one is the book i have been after for ages 50 Photo Icons the story behind the pictures, Ive been after this for ages. The second book was The Complete Digital Photo Manual and was the next book that i was going to buy myself, good times.

Image 55
My sister wouldn't let me take her photograph today and i managed to grab this shot which i find a bit ironic as shes peeping over the top of reveal magazine.

                                                                          DAY 56

Boxing day has always been a bit of a non starter for me and its usually a very lazy day for me when i begin to unwind after the build up to all the madness around Christmas.

Image 56
So i have had a day playing on my PS3 as i don't get a lot of time anymore to play and took this image off the screen. I like the image as you cant tell what it is and it makes you look at at in a strange kind of way. The game it is from is called Mass Effect 2 and i am enjoying having the spare time to try and complete it.

                                                                       DAY 57

Not had that much time for myself over the last few days with it being Christmas and all. Also i am still trying to master my new camera and its settings.

Image 57
It can give a nice shallow depth of field and i was just trying to see how shallow the depth is and what it would look like by photographing various items around my house.

                                                                        DAY 58

Today i have been extremely busy/lazy and haven't had time to take any photographs at all. I have decided not to beat myself up over this as i take that many photographs for this project, that i also have a folder on my pc that i put all the spare images. This folder is brimming with spare photographs so if ever i dont have time i can drag one out of here to use for this project.

Image 58
I am really loving what this camera does to the street lights and i like the fact that the man is blurred as he walks past.

                                                                          DAY 59

Action figure time. I have seen a lot of Lego figures and the likes used lately in a lot of photographs so i would like to have a go at doing this kind of shot. The downside is that i don't have any Lego, but i do have lots of other little toys lying around.

Image 59
The lighting in this image isn't very good but i liked the way it threw the contrast out, so i have used this shot rather than other that i took.

                                                                           DAY 60

Today i have taken another portrait of one of my friends and i am noting that a lot of my images are again in black and white. I hope the weather books up soon as i really would like to start taking lots more landscape type images.

Image 60
This image shows off her eyes and i like her cheeky face in this picture.

                                                                        DAY 61

I have taken a picture today of two images that i have taken a while ago. I put them together on the wall and then taken the shot. In Photoshop i have added another layer to try and bring in a little grunge texture.

Image 61
I do like messing around in Photoshop but i am very aware that i also need to show off camera skills as well as an artistic style that might not be to everyone's taste. The original image for this set of pictures was inspired from the film "Don't Look Now".

                                                                        DAY 62

I wanted to try out an idea i had seen in a magazine today, it was based on a pack of cards and some lighting.

Image 62
I had fun messing around for this image today, although getting the cards to stand up with blue tack were a pain. For the lighting i used a couple of penlight torches and i tried a couple of different shots with the focus on each card but this image was the best.

                                                                          DAY 63

I have had to pull another image today out of the spares folder, as i haven't had a lot of time to spend taking any photographs.

Image 63
I liked this image when i took the picture but at the time i used a different image with the idea of coming back to this one at a later date. Its the composition of the image and the selective focusing that i liked at the time when i originally took the picture.

                                                                         DAY 64

Today was the first day back at uni and the excitement had kicked in. Holidays are all well and good but i couldn't wait to get back to uni to be honest. I think now that we have all settled down that this term is going to be really good. Now we know what is expected of us and where we need to be with our work it will be a fun experience for most people.

Image 64
Since this is the first picture i have taken since being back at uni, I have also posted this onto my new blog homepage. I will probably start posting a continuation of this project onto the new blog when we switch over to it in a week or so.

                                                                        DAY 65

I had taken a couple of images at college yesterday that i really liked so i am going to use another one of them here today as it would be a shame for this next image going to waste in a folder somewhere on my PC.

Image 65
I cannot honestly say what it is about this photograph that i really like. I think its the focus and the reflection of the Mac screen in the i phone. Either way i just plain old like this image.

                                                                     DAY 66

I wanted to try out another gunge image today, so i took a photograph of the film poster for "Hostel" and then really played around with it.

Image 66
I added a new layer and added some text from an image i had taken the day before. Also i added some slight texture and played around with the levels to darken the image more.

                                                                           DAY 67

I have been trying out my new prime 50mm lens tonight. I wanted to create a multi layered image of some bicycle spokes, with different depths of field in each layer. The final image didn't come out to bad at all and was not far from what i had imagined it to look like from the outset.

Image 67
I was really pleased with this multi layered image it has been constructed using three layers from three different images. Each layer had its own black and white conversion and then i merged the layers down and changed the opacity settings for each layer until i achieved the look that i was after.

                                                                      DAY 68

A friend of mine lets me mess around and take all sorts of silly photographs of her and today was not different. We were having a laugh and messing around with her hair and she let me take a couple of pictures of her.

Image 68
We had fun overall and i enjoyed taking this shot. We even got out the hair dryers and tried blowing her hair up all over the place, but this was my favorite shot.

                                                                         DAY 69

While going to see my sister today, I discovered these two little yetti figures in her house, so i asked her if i couple borrow them to photograph.

Image 69
I thought that they were adorable, so i wanted to get them to have a play around with. I have taken a couple of shots with them but i will make a little Diorama with them at a later date i think.

                                                                            DAY 70

I have spotted these cars on the way home from uni a couple of times in the past and thought i would take a picture of them one day.

Image 70
They are in the shelter under the train station in Blackburn and i like the way the light reflects on the bonnets of the cars through the roof of the train station. I also wanted to try out the new depth of field tool in Photoshop Elements 10. It is very easy to use and the effect can be as subtle or as dramatic as you want.

                                                                      DAY 71

I had a great day today at Sunderland point. It was a uni trip and the weather held out for most of the day. there were plenty of photographic opportunities and as i had never been before it was really good to find an area that i can come back to at a later date to photograph.

Image 71
I enjoyed going out with the camera today and i ended up taking about 100 images. I picked this photograph though for here as the others will probably end up going on another page in my other blog.
