Paul Trevor.
Like you've never been away.
I bought this brilliant book from the exhibition we attended in Liverpool with uni. I had not heard of Paul Trevor before this trip and was amazed at his work when i saw it. It reminded me of when i was growing up in the 70's and how we all used to play on the streets as kids. You just don't seem to get that any more and it brought back many fond memories from my childhood.

I have just seen this on the local news. What an excellent video all made from photographs of the town that i live in. It is really impressive and must have took them ages to make, very inspiring stuff indeed. I had a go at something like this myself over the summer and know how much work goes into something like this.

The quote bellow was taken from the BBC website in an interesting article about a book called Magnum Contact Sheets being released by http://www.thamesandhudson.com/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-15672930
" Contact sheets are private: they belong to me, whereas photographs ,once they are out of my hands, take on a life of their own."
I would love to own a copy of this book but as a student its a little out of my price range at around £360.
Michael Ackerman.
One of the other students on our course has given me this name to look at as they thought i would like his work. After looking him up i can safely say that they were very correct indeed and his work is right up my street. I will go into detail and maybe do a case study on him as i like his work that much. Thanks to Natalie for that.
Bob Carlos Clarke.
It was a sad tale reading up on Bob Carlos Clarke's life as he must have been haunted by lots of demons. Killing himself at the age of 55 by throwing himself in front of a train is a terrible loss of talent to the photographic industry. He was not only a successful but innovative photographer but one that had strong opinions on the arrival of digital photography. He suffered from depression and i personally think that there is a very fine line between genius and madman, he seemed to fit this role to a tee.

Mark Power
Mark Power has a fantastic website and his projects are very well thought out and organized on his site, it is very easy to navigate. We looked at his work in regard to our "Great British" themed weekly picture project for systems and processes. The work he did for the "Shipping forecast" project took him four years to complete and has toured many countries around the world, it has also been published as a book.

Martin Parr is a magnum accredited photographer. His is varied but at the same time it all has a very familiar theme running through it. Many regard his earlier work to be his best, but i think all of his work has a lot of value to it. Again another very good website that's easy to navigate, in fact his website is a thing of kitsch beauty. It has a wonderful retro feel to it and sells him like it should. What you see is what you get etc.

He is recognized as being a great war photographer. In fact it is said that his camera once stopped a bullet from killing him.
"Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures"Don MCcullin.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_McCullin
Andre Kertesz
We came across this name in systems and processes in relation to the vase of flowers brief. After looking through a lot of his work its his distortion and street photography that stands out for me. His composition in the street work is exceptional. He had a very good eye and you can see his work is considered and thoughtful.
