Film thoughts and other rambles

There are a couple of good films coming out in the next couple of months that i am putting on here to remind myself that i must watch......
First up is We need to talk about Kevin with Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly.

Then there is The skin i live in by Pedro Almodovar (Need i say more)

And finally i cant wait to see Lars Von Trier's new film Melancholia which this months Empire magazine gives five stars to. Normally they are not far off the mark on an honest review of a film.

THE SKIN I LIVE IN ORIGINAL FILM POSTER
Noooooo i have just seen the trailer for a remake of the film Straw dogs. At first i thought it was a joke but on further inspection it turns out its real. I will reserve my judgment until i have seen the film but i do hate it when they remake classic films for a new generation for the sake of it. On first glance at the trailer it looks like they have gone down the torture porn route, which in a way i can understand as the original film was notoriously banned in England for 18 years for its depiction of graphic violence. Lets hope it lives up to Sam Peckinpah's original (Fingers crossed) and don't turn out another pointless American remake of a film that to be honest in my opinion should have been left well alone.

On a plus note the trailer for the film Cane Toads: The conquest looks like it will be great fun

What the hell? just found this trailer for a very mad film. It looks scary as hell but for all the right reasons. I will have to check this out .

This next trailer looks quite interesting and i especially like the imagery from inside of the dolls house in the trailer. Maybe this is something i could use/relate to in our up and coming objects Diorama brief. I especially like the way the dolls house has been lit and is another good reference point for me too look at.

Nice poster as well for the film.
This next film looks very very interesting and has received lots of critical buzz. Metacritic even gives it a nice 85/100. I will have to check this out.

So i have just listed my top ten films of all time then and i was surprised by my final ten. It was a hard list to make and no doubt it will change in the future but i will list them underneath. Maybe i will look back on this list and laugh at how bad or good my choices were. The films are not in any order and if i had to pick my top three i don't think i could do that.

I have put the trailers with the films and this list is also on my objects page.

I have just watched Amelie again today so that i could see what was in the box she finds to use it in my objects brief. I had forgotten just how good this film is as its been around a year since i watched it last. I think that this has to be one of the most feel good movies ever made. But now i need to find a garden gnome as instead of using the box i might go down another route.

Amelie 1
